Inland wildlife species of Sri Lanka including indigenous species, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals can be easily seen. Another exciting incident in the Shrine is the bird's search for collectively snug foods. During the Sri Pada's time various types of butterflies are seen. Many Sri Pada devotees say that the butterflies come to worship Sri Pada.
At the request of Sumana Saman, the Lord Buddha who visited the Kelaniya Sacred Lord Buddha for the third time, it is believed that the Buddha's left foot mark was at the top of the butterflies. Therefore it has got the name Sri Pada Kanda. Sri Lankans Buddhist masses cross the Sri Pada Kanda on an annual basis to worship Sri Pada.

SIGIRIYA

Sigiriya, which was named as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1982, is considered to be the eighth wonder of the world. In 477 AD, King Kashyapa became Sigiriya's king. Sigiriya rock is a mountain span of 200 meters. Ruins of a palace are found on top of the hill. Sigiriya is the mirror to showcase the miracles in Sri Lanka's ancient architecture.

Sigiriya is one of the oldest remaining parks in the world and it is a must know how water technology is at work. The stairway that starts from the lion's feet and extends over the mouth extends from the rocky slopes of the rock. The fascinating wall in Sigiriya is of special significance.

Prof. Senarath Paranavithana has completed reading about 600 graffiti songs. These songs may have been written up to the 13th century. Sigiriya is famous for its murals. Presently, about 20 frescoes have been found. These paintings have been used to illustrate the beauty of women.

These fresco paintings resemble the Ajanta frescoes. Therefore, the Sigiri Rock, its ruins, murals, and graffiti is Sri Lankan Heritage. They should be preserved for future generations.
